Travel season is upon us and we can’t help but be inspired by the rainbow-hued houses and Art Nouveau influences of Cuba. Chanel held its Cruise 2017 runway show in the heart of Havana, and Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld sums up Cuba’s sartorial appeal  –  ‘Here, you can really wear jewellery. Here, you can smile whenever you want. It is adorable!’

Not only has the famed Parisian fashion house made its mark on Cuban soil, but Tiffany & Co. elegantly decorated the former presidential palace, now known as the Musuem Of Revolution, with beautiful neoclassical elements. Built in the 1920s and designed to look like Versailles, the museum exhibits  trace colonial and revolutionary history.

As the fashion world embraces the unique, vivacious and vivid Cuba, we turn to Aquazzura, Shourouk and Venna for their interpretations of bold Cuban pom pom detailing.   Pumps, necklaces and handbag straps are adorned with striking “balls of flair” which derives from the French word for pom poms!
